First of all, who is us? Us is the Yuma Amateur Radio Hamfest Organization (YARHO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit group. YARHO is a bunch of amateur radio people who thought that Yuma, like a lot of other places around the country, should have a hamfest. Yuma had a large and popular CB Jamboree in the height of the CB radio craze of the 60's and 70's. That event was held at the Yuma County Fairgrounds. We thought something similar to that event could arise from the ashes as a modern-day hamfest.
Under the leadership of Scott Seamans (W7RFI), Jack Koeckes (KC7DUU) and others, YARHO put together a hamfest in Yuma for the first time in 2005. We have worked very hard to make the Yuma Hamfest one of the premier events of its kind in the United States. We have been told by large commercial vendors that we have grown to be the best hamfest in the Southwest, including southern California, Phoenix and Las Vegas. And we aren't done yet!
