The Buzzard Barbecue, which began with the first Yuma Hamfest in 2005, remains an annual tradition. We were shocked the first year when we had well over a hundred people line up for a Southern-style barbecue. Our dinner features a choice of either barbecued pulled pork or chicken, corn, green salad and rolls with butter. You have a choice of a free soda or bottled water with your meal. or if you prefer, coffee will be available. No one leaves hungry. The barbecue event was named after the old buzzard himself, Scott Seamans, W7RFI, the founder of the Yuma Hamfest. At left is a rare photo of Scott, who looks even worse in the morning.
The barbecue is Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. If you've never been to our hamfest before, this is the one part of the event you do not want to miss because of the fun and the prize giveaways. The barbecue, which does not actually involve buzzards in any way and is professionally catered (but don't tell anybody), costs one (1) $15 or two (2) for $25. Buy your tickets early, because we limit the number of dinners to 450. Tickets are available Friday and Saturday during the hours the hamfest is open. Immediately following the barbecue, we conduct the prize giveaways that we have become noted for, including door prizes, admission prizes and the grand prizes.
